Apple has released an iOS update, widely known as iOS 6.1.4, for iPhone 5 users, which delivers an "updated audio profile for speakerphone", according to the change log.
The new version is identified as Build 10B350 and it is an 11.5-megabyte download. The update does not involve a beta testing period for developers and follows the release of iOS 6.1.3, which was released on March 19 and fixed six flaws.
With 11.5MB in size, iOS 6.1.4 can be downloaded through the Software Update section found in the native Settings application. It fully supports both the GSM and CDMA version of the iPhone 5.
There are no other pieces to the iOS 6.1.4 puzzle. The update was not seeded to developers in advance, which is different from many previous releases. It is said that Apple's iOS engineers are too busy to apply much time to iOS 6.X update, since they have reportedly been working hard at iOS 7 to ensure that it can be reached to demo at WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference), scheduled for June 10 to 14.
It is also been reported that no other major updates for iOS are expected to be released, as Apple is believed to be hard at work on the the next new version, iOS 7. The next coming iOS 7, along with the next build of Apple's Mac OS X operating system, are expected to be released at the San Francisco event.
For the protection of its customers, Apple does not disclose or confirm security issues until a full investigation has occurred and any necessary patches or releases are available. Apple often updates some stuff behind the scenes including some bug fixes and security updates. Some reports held that a month ago or so, it was said that the iOS 6.1.4 patch would be pretty much dictated by the lawyers, but now it looks like Apple has somehow avoided that change to the "Always On" VPN setting that was required in the aftermath of its patent lawsuit with VirnetX.
Anyway, if you have any other iOS device, don't bother checking as the iOS 6.1.4 is not available for them. If you inadvertently deleted some important data on your iPhone 5, try iPhone Data Recovery to help you easily and quickly recover any data you want from iTunes backup files, or directly restore lost data from iPhone 5.comments powered by Disqus
