Does iCloud Backup Contact
As mentioned before, iCloud does back up contacts from the Contacts app on your iOS-based device. All the contacts that you have in the app get backed up to your iCloud account giving you an opportunity to restore them when you want.
Method 1. View and Restore Contacts from iCloud Backup Selectively
If you want to recover contacts from iCloud selectively, then you are going to need to use a software to do that as iCloud by default doesn't allow you to restore items selectively. There are several apps that let you do that and here we show one of those apps for you to restore your contacts.
The app that you are going to be using is called Tenorshare UltData and it allows you to restore data from iCloud backups on your Windows PC or Mac. It's easy to use the app and the following shows how:
Download and open the software on your computer. Select the option that says Recover from iCloud Backup File at the top and enter in your iCloud login details and log-in to your account.
After logging-in to your account, choose the backup where your contacts are stored. Then, click on the Next button to continue.
On the screen that follows, checkmark the box that says Contacts and click on Next to continue. This way it will only scan for contacts in your backup.
You should then be able to view and restore contacts from your iCloud backup to your iOS device or your computer.
Method 2. Restore Contacts from iCloud to iPhone by Resetting
If you have just set up a new iOS device or it's been a while since you set up and haven't got much data on your device, you can reset your device and restore an iCloud backup to restore all your contacts on your device.
Please keep in mind that this will restore all the items from your iCloud backup and not just contacts. If you are fine with that, let's see how to retrieve contacts from iCloud by resetting your iOS based device.
On your iOS device, open the Settings app and head to General > Reset. Then, tap on the option that says Erase All Content and Settings.
After your device content has been erased, set up your device from scratch and tap on Restore from iCloud Backup on the apps & data screen.
You will be able to select an iCloud backup to restore data from. Once the data has been restored, you will find that all your iCloud contacts are now available on your iOS device.
Method 3. Restore Contacts from iCloud.com
If you don't already know, iCloud has a website that also allows you to manage your iCloud content including your contacts synced to your account. If you haven't used it before, here's how you can use it to restore contacts on your device.
