iPhone Notes keeps crashing in iOS 10 has drawn attention on Apple communities recently:
"After update to iOS10, the notes app was crashing. I noticed the app crashes as soon as it tries to make connection to cloud.
"Since upgrading to iOS 10, everytime I open the Notes app it crashes after a few seconds. I have tried rebooting the phone but it keeps crashing. Any suggestions?"
You are not alone if you're experiencing Notes app keeps crashing since updating to iOS 10. Apple has yet to respond to this problem. Here I summarize the feasible 4 ways to fix the crash in iOS 10 Notes on iPhone and iPad before any official update is released.
I recommend you to give each of the methods below a try until the Notes crashing problem is repaired.
Some of iPhone and iPad users fixed the iOS 10 Notes shutdown by a hard reboot. It is quite easy to force restart an iPhone or iPad.
iPhone 7/7 Plus: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Volume Down buttons together until Apple logo comes back on again to force reboot the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
Other iPhone and iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons simultaneously until Apple logo appears. Then release both buttons to reboot the device.
Turning off the iCloud Notes settings and then reactivating it worked for a lot of people who are troubled by Notes crash problem.
Go to Settings on your device > iCloud > move the button to OFF in Notes. Select "Delete from My iPhone" in the popup message. iCloud will delete all Notes from the device. After this, you can turn on Notes back in iCloud. Your iPhone will re-sync all iCloud notes when you open the app again.
There is another effective way to fix iOS Notes issue by using a third-party utility- ReiBoot. This is a freeware that can enable system self-repairing by entering and then exiting recovery mode. All you need is just two clicks, but it aims to fix not only iPhone Notes crashing and freezing, but also fix iPhone stuck at white apple, reboot loop, or iTunes connection screen during/after iOS 10.1.1/10.0.1 or iOS 9.3.5 upgrade.
Click Enter Recovery Mode in ReiBoot to put your iDevice into recovery mode.
And then click Exit Recover Mode to get the device out of recovery.
The whole process takes you less than one minute. Hence, if your Notes app keeps quitting on iOS 10.0.1/10.1.1, do not hesitate to give ReiBoot a try. You can even click "Fix All iOS Stuck" to repair operating system which will resolve all iOS errors, freezes and abnormity without wiping your data and settings. Learn more >>
This can be used as your last resort. It is not recommended as preferable solution because restoring in iTunes will wipe all data and settings in your device.
Connect your iOS device to computer, and open iTunes. Click the device icon in iTunes, go to Summary, and click "Restore iPhone..." to start restoring your device.
Tips: If you already restored your iPhone and lost all files, you can try to recover your files with iPhone Data Recovery software –UltData.
To many, the Notes app is inevitable at both work and home, so it is horrible when the Notes app suddenly stopped working after iOS 10 update. Hope these fixes mentioned above can help you resolve the Notes issue in iOS 10.
