How to Use iPod Data Recovery for Mac?
iPod Data Recovery for Mac provides you with 3 recovery modes to recover lost photos, text messages, contacts, notes, videos and more from iPod 4: recover lost data from iPod without backup, recover lost data from iTunes backup and recover lost data from iCloud backup. Each mode applies to different situation, read the tutorial below and select one that facilitates you most.
First of all, download the program to Mac and launch it afterwards.
"Recover Data from iOS Device" is straightforward if you don't have iTunes backup. It allows you to directly scan your iPod and recover lost data.
But sometimes special cases arise, and here are some solutions for you:
When your iPod is unfortunately stuck in recovery mode, iPod Data Recovery will help you exit recovery mode in one click before scan.
If your iPod is stuck in apple logo, apple boot loop, etc. No matter it is detected or not, please kindly download iCareFone to repair iOS system before data recovery.
Once the iPod is connected, you can select the data and click "Start Scan" on the software interface.
Once scanning done, this software tells you how many of each it managed to recover. And all the recoverable data on your iPod will be found and listed by category, such as photos, videos, Safari bookmarks, calendars, and etc. You can preview all of them and select the files you need recover.
Tips: In the scan result, you'll get all data including lost data and those still exit on your iPod. If you only want to deal with the lost data, you can define the result by ticking "Only display the deleted items".
Then a window appears, and you need to specify a location on your Mac to save the recovered iPod files. For text content like contacts, text messages, call history and etc., they are saved as .xls, .xml, .txt file. For media file (photos, videos, audios), they are saved in their original formats.
"Recover Data from iTunes Backup File" mode is relatively easier, but it requires that you have synced your iPod with iTunes before you lost data. It allows you to recover previous data by extracting iTunes backup file. If you lost your iPod or you failed to use "Recover Data from iOS Devices", this mode is highly recommended.
It walks you through the process of recovering the items to a folder of your choice on your Mac. The text files can be saved as as .xls, .xml, .txt files, while media file (photos, videos, audios) can be saved in their original formats.
If you have backed up your iPod data with iCloud, you can restore iPod data from iCloud backup as well. Just select "Recover Data from iCloud Backup File" by clicking on the iCloud symbol.
When the following interface appeared, type your iCloud account and password (Apple ID) and click on "Sign in". Alternatively, you can click on "Software Access" to allow this sofware to detect the iCloud account and automatically sign in to iCloud -- you don't need to type the account and password again.
After you log into your iCloud account, the program will list all the backups of devices which have been backed up with this iCloud account. According to backup name, backup date, backup size and iOS version, select your backup file and click "Next" to download this backup file.
