Mode 1: Recover Lost Files Directly from iPad without Backup

Select "Recover Data from iOS Device" when you don't have iTunes backup file. This recovery mode allows you to directly scan your iPad to find data lost or data on your inaccessible iPad.

Note: The program needs some time to recognize your device, thus if you plug your device but the software crashes or "Start scan" Button grays out, simply restart the program.

Step 1: Connect iPad Device

Select "Recover Data from iTunes Backup File" if you lost your iPad or you failed to directly recover from your iPad. This mode allows you to recover previous data by extracting iTunes backup. Therefore, make sure you have synced your iPad with iTunes before.

Note: Never sync your iPad with iTunes as soon as you realize that you've lost data, otherwise, the iTunes backup file of iPad will be updated after the sync.

Specify a location on your Mac to save the recovered files. For text files, they are saved in .xls, .xml, .txt format for better reading. For media file (photos, videos, audios), they are saved in their original formats. Contacts can also be saved in VCF files.

Mode 3: Recover iPad Data by Extracting iCloud Backup File

If you have ever backed up your iPad with iCloud before, you can select "Recover Data from iCloud Backup File" by clicking on the iCloud symbol.

Step 1: Login into iCloud Account
When the following interface appeared, type your iCloud account and password (Apple ID) and click on "Sign in". Alternatively, you can click on "Software Access" to allow this sofware to detect the iCloud account and automatically sign in to iCloud -- you don't need to type the account and password again.

Step 3: Preview and Recover Lost iPad Data
Select the files you need to recover and click "Recover" to save them on your Mac. Again, text file will be saved in .xls, .txt and .xlm (contacts can be saved as .vcf/vCard as well); media files will be saved in their original formats.
